NE250 2023 Day 7 – Smithy Croft CL (CAMC)

https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=13627

We found a lovely CL nestled back from the sea as the weather had turned windy, even with the stabilisers down my wife was sure she wouldn’t sleep at our intended stop on the sea front at Rosehearty Boat club, although lovely views it was just too open.

We were met by a lovely lady who allowed us to park on some Hardstanding as its was a little wet with rain forecast overnight, toilets, fresh water and CDP all available and even fresh eggs if you needed them, £20 with EHU.

It was lovely and quite with just the sounds of the birds to wake up too.

Yew Tree Farm CL – Warrington

Second stop for a visit to see our son in Manchester, bit of a strange one here, the CL could be so nice but everything is just a bit run down, too overgrown, pitches not well cared for BUT it comes with all you need, fresh water, CDP and EHU for £18 per night, not the best but for a stopover near the motorway its not bad.

The owner was very nice, had lots of information on what to do and where to go if required, cash was his preferred payment option.

Entranceway could do with a tidy up
Hardstanding is good
Toilets and hot showers available
CDP

Newton Grove CL – Banbury

Our Scotland 2022 tour is underway, only a few hours from home we found this lovely CL for a stopover, Hardstanding and grass with CDP, bins, free standing solar units, information centre and fresh water.

Hardstanding Pitch 1, with picnic tables and fire pit, logs and kindling supplied.

The owners were very nice, cost was 12.50 per night in July 2022 and i have been informed that the longer you stay the lower it gets.

Very well maintained site with great amenities, lovely quiet and dark night skys with plenty of wildlife.

Picnic bench with fire pits to use
Free standing solar units free to use, information shed with lots of info
Lots of info on what to do and where to go
Well maintained with nice cut lawns

NC500 2021 Day 6, Altnaharra CAMC

We left Bonar Bridge and headed to Lidl at Tain to stock up, we then headed to Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve.

We were amazed at how many seals were lying on the sand bars, we counted 63 about 100 yards from where we were parked.

We had brunch and walked along the side of the loch taking photos.

We then headed to our night stop at Altnaharra Caravan and Motorhome Club site, right on the edge of Loch Naver, CDP, water and a small shop, NO toilets or showers.

Please note the water is pumped from underground and although I am assured it is safe to drink, looking like apple juice I decided not too.

NC500 2020 Day 1

We started from Bournemouth, very excited about our 2 weeks touring the NC500 in the Motorhome, It’s something my wife Karen has always wanted to do so we thought we would get on with it during the Covid Restrictions restricting our European travels.

Our first stop was a CAMC stop at The Lodge, Red Hill Lane, Halmer End, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST7 8AX.

Just off J16 of the M6

A nice CL with grass and hard standing, lovely views, well laid out and pleasant owners, we were met on arrival and shown to our pitch, it was late and dark so we settled in for the night.

£12 a night without EHU or £15 with, toilets and showers (closed for Covid) all waste emptying and fresh water if required.
