NC500 2021 Day 3, Fortrose Bay

We left the viewpoint at Loch Lochy around 7:30, through past experience we realised Fort Augustus Motorhome bays in main car park get busy fast so planned to be there between 8 and 8:30, arrived with plenty of spaces. £3 for 4 hours was nice and cheap.

We had breakfast and took a wander down to the town, headed out towards Loch Ness, it was beautiful.

We then headed up along the loch to have a nice morning coffee while watching the boats coming through the locks.

We left Loch Ness heading on to Inverness and our stop for the night Fortrose Bay Campsite, a lovely stop over right on the edge of the water @ £25 a night with EHU and all the usual amenities you would expect from a campsite, nice clean hot showers and amazing views over the Moray Firth.

Up early in the morning for a walk to the point to see Dolphins hopefully.

NC500 2021 Day 2, Loch Lochy

We left Cumbria nice and early with a 5-6 hour journey ahead of us, traffic was surprisingly light, we stopped a couple of services on the way up but especially liked Cairn Lodge.

We made our way up and along Loch Lomond, stopping along the way to get some photos

We stopped off at the Falls of Falloch for a cuppa and a walk to the falls

Henley On Thames

We found this little gem on Facebook, it was advertised at £15 per night with grey waste and Elsin disposal.

You park up on an arc along the riverbank.

We say so many swans, ducks, Red Kites and heard someone talking about seeing kingfishers.

Amazing walks along the riverbank with a bus stop out the front, 15 minutes into Henley that cost £4 per adult return.

They also offer trips and cruises from the bank where you are staying along with the ability to launch canoes or paddle boards.

Wow, what a year!

It seems so long since we have been able to stay away overnight, the thought of it even for a night or two sounds great, it’s Good Friday and we are parked up at our favourite spot in Poole, Dorset – Harbourside One Car Park overlooking the bay.

We have already booked our September trip to Scotland for the NC500 again and we are very excited, until then we have a good amount of Temporary Campsites (Rally’s) booked with Avon group of the Motor Caravaners Club (MCC)

NC500 2020 Day 13, Final Day.

We left Loch Tulla Viewpoint heading towards Killin, we had breakfast before we left but did find an American Diner on route that had a great breakfast menu and coffee.

We arrived in Killin and managed to find a space in the small car park, not many places you could fit a 7.1m Motorhome but we were lucky.

Amazing Waterfalls after the rain.

The Village is beautiful and definitely worth a wander, food, coffee and gift shops.

The Falls Of Dochart were truly spectacular, we even watched salmon jumping.

We were supposed to stay here but decided to start the long drive home and ended up at the Forestry Commission Car Park at Ae-Naze, £3 to stay the night with no Services.

This was virtually the end of our NC500 Tour, just driving and sleeping left now, we had an incredible time and will definitely return, we personally preferred the Lochs and the East side and would concentrate on those areas when we return, possibly 2021.

NC500 2020 Day 12

We left Inverness heading south along Loch Ness, this day mostly consisted of amazing views as we drove towards Killin and The Falls of Dochart.

We stopped at Lidl in Fort William for supplies, lots of parking so no probs for Motorhome’s, we then carried on stopping for photos.

We arrived at our stop for the night, Loch Tulla Viewpoint, Lots of hard standing parking with gorgeous views, no bins or services but worth it.

NC500 2020 Day 11

Wooot, No rain, it was dry all day, this makes Motorhome life so much easier, we left Black water falls after a photoshoot of our gorgeous cockapoo “Treacle”

You have no idea how long it took to get her to look forward, still she is so adorable.

Heading towards Inverness we stopped at Rogie Falls, after the rain they were just as spectacular as Blackwater.

Decent size car park and toilets that were open.
Another suspension bridge, Karen really does not like them.
The roar of the water is so loud.

We had some lunch then headed towards Tore Service Station to get some refillable LPG, all filled up and heading to Inverness for our overnight stop tonight – Bught Park Caravan Park and Camping Site.

Not busy at all, lovely hosts, all the services, CDP, waste emptying, fresh water, hot free showers, toilets, washing up and laundry – £26 per night with EHU inc our dog.

NC500 2020 Day 10

It was a very rainy day today, we woke to rain, it stayed most of the day and only brightened up a little nearer the end of the day.

Our first stop was Corrieshalloch Gorge, the car park (paid) was full but there was a few stops on the way there, we turned around and headed back to park up in one and even though it was raining decided to walk back along the road and visit the gorge by foot, as it turned out, a great idea 🙂

A nice steady path down to the swing bridge over the falls, just breathtaking, amazing views especially after all the rain we have had.

The bridge was limited to 6 people and did actually swing 🙂

Once over the bridge we headed left down to another viewing platform.

We then moved on to our stop for the night, Black Water Falls, a free car park set back along way from the road and almost right by the water/falls.

We left early as no phone connection heading south towards Ullapool, we stopped for a coffee on route in a little tearoom called “ The Elphin Tearooms”, nice coffee but a bit bleak inside.

So many amazing views out of every window.

We arrived in Ullapool and headed to Tesco car park, we needed to stock up and have a walk around the town, the lorry park adjacent to the Tesco car park takes plenty of Motorhome’s and is free.

On walking to Tesco we noticed a laundry service establishment just off to the left, we enquired and was amazed at the price of £10 a bag of washed, dried and even folded cloths, so popped back to the van and dropped that off while we had a walk around.

We then grabbed a coffee and some great scones from “The Tea Store” on the road parallel to the harbour road, headed back to the van and waited for the laundry to finish.

By the time that was all done it was time to heard to our stop for the night, a camp site we passed as we came down into Ullapool called Ardmair Holiday Park.

We paid £26.50 for a hard standing pitch with EHU per night, services include, CDP, waste emptying grill, fresh water fill up, showers (hot and free), toilets and a laundry room if you want it, shop at reception with a friendly host to give you all the info.
